Indigenous Employment Centres
Indigenous Employment Centres (IECs) will help Community Development Project (CDEP) Participants find long term jobs.
Enabling them to move off CDEP and receive a steady income. This makes way for more Participants to go onto CDEP and then move into the IEC.
IECs help Participants get ready for work outside of the CDEP and support them while they are in their chosen job.
IECs will be established by CDEPs located in areas with good job opportunities.
IECs will provide a pathway to employment that has strong connections with the local community and that is culturally relevant.
The first IECs commenced operation in April 2002
More IECs will start operating on 1 July 2002, with further IECs commencing over the next few years.
